'We Want To Upgrade The Standard Of Our League Through Officiating: Ahlan

Chairman of the Nigerian  Football Federation Referees appointment committee, Alhaji Sharu Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan, the Galadima of Kwallon Kafar Nigeria is talking tough on club owners and fans trying to confront referees to influence the outcome of results of matches involving their teams.


He made this known in a live radio interview with Aminci Radio 103.9FM Kano from Morocco, where CHAN Eagles are competing in this year's African Nations Championship.


He charged the referees to be brave and fear no one while on duty and promised to protect their image at all times.

"We want them to be diligent and brave while discharging their duties across all centres.

"The referees are the image makers of our football and we will work hard towards realising our target of upgrading the league.


According to the multi award winning Football Administrator, any Club owner or fans found wanting shall be dealt with and will take full responsibility of the consequences to be meted on them.


"We want to upgrade the standard of our league through officiating. He continued........


He urged fans not to take the law into their hands even if the officiating goes against them but should channelled their complains into the appropriate authority.


"We will not spare any one found guilty of harassing match officials on duty. Ahlan added.


The Kano State FA Chair has since promised to introduce Referee Of The Week award to spur match officials to always put in their best.

"We will soon introduce referee of the week/month award to celebrate with the outstanding officials who distinguish themselves."


"Our referees are trying their best and will do more in years to come. We will soon start seeing our referees officiating in high profile FIFA/CAF organized matches." Ahlan added.
