NPFL MD 8: MATCH OFFICIAL ASSAULTED AS PILLARS HELD SUNSHINE TO A NIL NIL DRAW

By TangaSports

Referee, Emanuel Aline assaulted by the fans of Sunshine Stars FC of Akure on Sunday after the home team were held to a nil nil draw by four times league champions, Kano Pillars on Sunday.

The centre Referee was manhandled after the match and images at the scene shows the pool of blood running from his forehead down to his face.

It could be recalled that Sunshine Stars were banished to Lagos and Ujebu Ode due to similar offence in the past two seasons but the fans choose to showcase their nonchalant attitude towards an imminent and permanent banishment from the Akure Sports Complex.

The Officials received rave reviews in the current season due to an improved performance shown while call upon.

In view of their performances, the Nff Referees Appointment Committee decided to introduce a monthly award to celebrate with the outstanding match officials as 'Referee of the month Award' so as to spur them and to bring out the best in them.

*I therefore urged the relevant Authorities to take serious action on Sunshine Stars FC fans and any other club fans who want to bring our league to disrepute.*

That's my take and opinion........ *I represent myself.*
