The Eagles Have A Better Chance Against 'The Resilient' Iceland - Ahlan

Kano State Football Association Chairman as well as an Executive Board Member of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Sharu Inuwa Rabiu also known as Ahlan is talking tough ahead of the Super Eagles of Nigeria second group game against Iceland at the ongoing Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.


The CAF Protocol Committee Member believes that Iceland are not pushovers considering their performance against heavyweight Argentina in a game that ended in a one all draw.


The seasoned Football Administrator is of the opinion that the game is going to be tricky and believed with prayers, the Super Eagles will take home the maximum points.

"Look, the matches are becoming more difficult and harder now but with prayers coupled with an outstanding performance, our Boys will get over it at the end of 90 minutes, He continued.


On the performance of top footballing Nations against those who are believed to be underdogs. The Galadima of Kwallon Kafar Nigeria said that, Russia 2018 World Cup is becoming unpredictable and more complicated.

"Football power houses like Brazil, Germany, Argentina etcetera are not getting it easily anymore. So Nigeria shouldn't be an exception, Ahlan added.


The Super Eagles will trade tackles with Iceland in a make or mar encounter to be decided at the Volgograd Arena on Friday, 22nd May, 2018 at 4:00pm Nigerian time while Messi led Argentina will take on leaders Croatia a day earlier.


As mentioned, Croatia are leading the log with 3 points while Iceland and Argentina are second and third with one point apiece and the Eagles are occupying the first position from the rear with no point.


For Nigeria to have any chance of progressing to the next round, they need to beat both Iceland and Argentina in their remaining fixtures.


It could be recalled that the Super Eagles lost their opening group game to Croatia by two goals to nil.
