Picking out the footballing stars of the future is a tricky task. There are so many factors which could hinder the progression of even the most professional of teenagers.

But some do seem destined to reach the top, while others display a work ethic that’s even greater than the natural talent at their disposal.

The second paragraph could be the case with Kano Pillars talented, 18-year-old  forward Mustapha Salisu.

He burst onto the scene last season when he was promoted from the Junior team and has since caught the attention of football enthusiast across the country with his brilliant display week in week out in the Kano Pillars Jersey.

Mustapha was voted man of the match against MFM FC of Lagos last season after coming into the game barely few minutes to the final whistle. He was introduced when the scored tied at 1-1 and immediately changed the flow of the game with two quick assists to make the score 3-1 at the end of the regulation time.

He was the catalyst to Pillars good run to the 2018 Aiteo Cup final, driving the Kano giant from game to game until they reach the final, notably against Enyimba and Katsina Utd in the quarter and semi finals respectively.

Many football pundits believes that his non inclusion in the match day squad during the  final against Rangers by the then Pillars Technical Adviser, Ibrahim Musa Jugunu, considering his performances in the competition was responsible for their failure at the death of the game.

Majority of the pillars fans argued that they missed his electrifying skills and pace that could have caused the entire Rangers team havoc in the game.

The 18-year-old's talent and versatility has some people wondering whether he could be a bolster for the Nigeria National U-20 team, the Flying Eagles to the Upcoming African Youth Championships.

As the preparation for the 2018/2019 season gearing up closer, Mustapha has become an integral part of the Pillars set up and would ultimately be a delight to watch when the league finally kicks off few weeks away from now.

He has started pre season on fire, scoring a total of six goals in the process.
